I stitched together these short clips of a 3-legged buck that was visiting one of my cam sites during July. He hasn't returned to the site in over a month. I wonder if the oddity with his left antler has anything to do with him missing half of his right leg? I was hoping to see how well he can walk, but unfortunately he didn't move around much in any of the clips. I wonder if he was born that way or if something happened to cause the missing leg?

A 3-legged whitetail buck

Would you kill this deer if given the chance this season? Keep in mind that Kansas is a one-buck state.

His left antler deformity is almost certainly attributed to the injury to the right rear leg. My guess is that he wasn't born this way. Either shot, hit by car or caught in a fence. As far as whether to shoot or not, that is a tough call. In Tennessee the answer would be yes but a one buck state like Kansas would be tough. Im leaning toward shooting.

I Was really hoping to see how well he moves around like that.

I'd take him, personally... even in a one-buck state.

Yep rear leg injury normally effects opposite side antler. 3 legged deer will do just fine and actually hard to tell they have only 3 legs anytime except when they are just walking. They can run just fine!

Just wondering if he could breed a doe with one back leg? The one side all freaky from the injury, but look at the character on his good side. He has stickers coming off of G2 and G3 on the right side. plus just think what he would look like with both sides the same. maybe he can pass a little of that on.

It's definitely the leg that messed up his antler. Seen it in a bunch of pics and in the 8 pt that I killed last year. Really cool buck you got there

I'd shoot him looks like a 3yr old buck. He probably would be a hard deer to kill. Learning to survive with that type of adversity, has like made him a much more cautious deer...
