I'm getting ready to formulate a 308 round that will be accurate as far out as possible. (I'm looking at 7~800 yards possibly). I think I've found the bullet (Hornady 180gr. ELD) but have no knowledge of what powders will work best. Currently all my 308s are loaded with IMR 8208 Any input is appreciated.

I am not shooting those distances, but my 308's really like the 178 eldx over imr4895. Get great accuracy near max book load, would expect the 180 eldm would perform very similarly with 4895.

I used to have a tshirt that said "friends don't let friends shoot 168s" lol

Yeah one thing I discovered real quick was I wasnt a fan. Hits with them in any wind was very difficult and it was lobbing in mortar fire when compared to shooting other cartridges

My favorite 308 cases have something in 6mm, 6.5mm, 7mm or .358 stuck in the top of them.

They were designed for 300 meters. A 308 in a long action , or short action loaded single with the high BC bullets loaded to max potential velocity's is a quite capable caliber.
