Old Hickory starts off the 2010 season on 1/31! Everybody is welcome. We have known and unknown yardage classes for trophies and a money class. Lots of kids/youth classes for the youngsters. There's also a fun class that's a few bucks cheaper.

www.ohlbc.com for the full schedule and directions.

Shoot me a PM if you have any questions.

Just installed a new sight and riser and am ready.

Question: what are the stabilizer restrictions for the hunting class? Thinking about shooting in hunting class mostly since my rig is a hunting set up.

12" in front measured from the connection to the riser, 6" in back measured from the rear most point of the riser. 40yd max yardage, 1/2 of which is known.

I think I might come to this. It would be my first time to shoot a tourny in about 20 yrs. Just got back in to archery this past summer after laying it down for about 15 yrs.

Traveling I-40 West, take the Hermitage Exit (221, the first one) onto Old Hickory Blvd. Travel approx. 3 miles to the intersection with Lebanon Pike. Take a right onto Lebanon Pike and continue about 2 miles. You will see a Kroger on your left. Turn left onto Shute Lane and travel approx 1 mile (go through stop light).[color:#FF0000]Shute lane is just before the Kroger on your left.[/color] Range is on your left.

I take it that there is only one Kroger to be concerned with? I shouldn't look for another Kroger once I get on Shute Lane. Is that correct?

Wayne - you are correct. You will only pass one Kroger on Lebanon Pike using those directions.

UTGrad - a lot of shooters use a back stabilizer even in the pins classes. That stab cannot exceed 6" in length.

I live in Knoxville, TN and would like to shoot competition are there any ASA clubs closer to me? If not i could drive but wonder how "good" you have to be, not trying to brag but i can consistently group 1-3" out to 40 yards and split knocks at 20 yards on my good days. Is that anywhere close to competition level and what class would that put me in?

there are several clubs around knoxville. tri-county in seymour, morristown are 2 that we have visited.

as for what class, bow novice is a good place to start. 30 yd max.
hunter class has a 40 yd max.

Bradshaw, if you can put em there like that, shoot the unlimited class. 45 yard max pin class.

apparently having never shot in 3D tourneys, i suggested the novice class to get a taste of it. if he likes it, you can always move up but if the higher classes are too much, you can't move back.

AGREED!!!

I've shot bows since I was 4 years old and have won a many "dust collector" since shooting competitions. And I can't shoot like that consistently :) I have good days and bad days, and the best I can hope for is that my bad days are better than the other guy's best day. LOL.

Most folks build a stool. Buy a dove stool and zip tie (or use black duct tape) two golf tubes to it. Put a little scrap of cloth in the bottom of each tube. You can build one for less than 25 bucks. Academy should have all you need.

Bump....starts Sunday folks.

(I might not make it if it's too cold :D )
