My kin and I tote our 410's every couple of years for the opener back home in South Florida. I've got a buddy here who just got into this tss loading. Had him get us everything we need to load 20 shells. Give me a good recipe. Loading #9 shot. For all the money we just spent, this project better be worth it. :) It is not a distance thing, as none of us would even consider shooting past 30 steps, but I've been looking at the pattern density and that tss is friggin nasty out to 40 with these 410's. Roost, I'll let you start the bashing :)

Sooooo, you have TSS in hand, but you have no .410 load data for it? If so, who did you source your TSS from? That is "usually" who provides you with "lab tested" load data. I'd be careful accepting load data from just anybody and everybody.

X2. The recipe I use was given to me by the seller and is considered proprietary. Wish I could help!

All one big secret, I get it. My buddy here has been reloading shotgun shells for almost 35 years, just new to this tss stuff. Between his knowledge and our knowledge of loading buckshot and other projectiles :) in blackpowder shotguns used for hunting deer off buggies and airboats, we should be able to come up with something that works ;) Thanks anyways.

Hey brother I'm not gonna bash a soon to be new convert...I knew you would eventually come around. Now if could just get invited to one of those turkey massacres in FL.. seriously tho, whomever you bought the TSS from should provide the recipe. Not saying I'd share it, but I have no load data for little girls guns. :poke:
BTW: wouldn't have a extra Sneed pot laying around would you? :stir:
I couldn't resist... I'm pretty sure there are a couple guys on here that load 410, maybe they can help.
Looking forward to seeing the patterns.

Pile it on, I can take it :) We've got something figured out. Uncle and cousin will be here this weekend. We'll get together Saturday evening with my buddy and do some experimenting ;) I'm thinking about auctioning off an Osceola hunt at our camp on Old Gobbler. It will be listed in the pot call classifieds and will go to the highest bidder :) What a bunch of friggin girls on that sight. It was my fault for not reading posting rules, but what a bunch of pansies. Two of those a##bags complaining where the ones out bidding on the Sneed pot in my pm's. Again, my fault for not reading rules. Hated to part with that Hot Hen, but my old man and I still have one a piece. I needed to sell off some stuff to help pay for the Buice trumpet I have on the way :) On a serious note, might have room at the camp next year for two, possibly three, serious turkey hunters who would enjoy a true "Florida Cracker" Osceola turkey hunt. No money, just license, food and gas. I'll know more towards the end of June if anyone here is interested. No googans please :)

First one to $80 gets it. :) To those who are interested in the hunt, I'll be able to confirm this by the end of June. We can sleep 12 comfortable and usually have only eight of us for that first week. Problem is seats on the swamp buggies, which we use to traverse the swamp. A cousin and two nephews are working on guiding for a local ranch and outfitter those first 10 days. They are waiting for the outfitter to book full, which should happen here in the next 4 weeks or so. This will free up 3 spots. Season will open Sat. March 3rd 2018. When I can confirm these three spots, I will discuss the details with those who are truly serious. We will also be applying in Nov., for quota hunt permits on the Fisheating Creek West WMA around Palmdale Florida for that second week. A sure 'nuff quality Osceola hunt. It's a 4 day hunt. Only 15 permits issued. Each permit is allowed one guest who can also hunt towards one bag limit(2)Gobblers. We've got several priority points on three different group applications and have a good shot at getting drawn. Would be willing to take someone as a guest if they would be interested. Anyone can put in for these permits. $25 management area stamp is all that is needed to apply. This will be required anyway along with a non resident license and a turkey permit to hunt. 10 day non resident $45 WMA permit $25 turkey permit $125. There are 5 (4)day hunts available total. All are quality hunts.

I'm ready for another trip to down south. These guys really have no idea what they're asking for when they say they want to try the Big Cypress. Lol
I want to be sitting beside ya when you shoot a Osceola with that 410!

There are some guys that have been shooting 410 for several years over on the ALDEER forum. There is alot of good info in past threads on guns that shoot it best etc.I've carried a 410 only for the last 5 yrs and shoot 9.5 out of it. Any gun newer than about 1985 won't be choked down enough to be a 40 yd gun. If you get the right gun and load it will out shoot almost any 12 with over the counter ammo.

I'm interested.... that's a very generous offer. Kudos to you. Sorry about your bad experience on OG, things are definitely ran a little different over there.

Good candidate right here Warren. We can use his platinum card to pay for the trip. He would have to come this way to get there so we'd make him pick us up and drive too.

Smart man right here, I was thinking the same thing Poleaxe. Roost has been looking for opportunities to spread his wealth with some of us, and I like your idea of how it can be done. :tu:

You don't want to ride with him. Better figure me in on the deal as the driver so we make it alive. :)

I like where your head is at :P

Andy, I'm going to send you this target pic. You can post it here if you want as I cannot :) Please excuse my lack of "attention to detail" regarding my target and testing methods. 3in. Rem hull. 11/16 ounces of #9's sitting on top of sp wad and 14.5 gr. of Alliant 2400 at 30 steps. Thin aluminum for sale sign behind plate along with a tall boy Bud can in the back. Complete pass through on both. No fancy 10 in circle with pellet count #'s. Shot twice with same results. Safe to say that if I get lined up on his neck clean within 30 steps and keep my head down with a good cheek weld, he is sure' nuff' in trouble ;)

I agree with this. This was shot through my old school model 42 Winchester pump 26in full choked barrel. Again, it's not about distance with us, as none of us would shoot beyond 30 steps with these guns. This pattern density, compared to the old school Federal 71/2's we've shot for years, is very impressive. There is no escaping that pattern if I do my part.
