Anyone done this? I have an old hawken style .50 that was given to me by a family member. The bore is in rough shape and won't hold a group. Anyone know of anyone that does this for a reasonable price? Would it be even worth doing or should it just go on the mantle?

With the availability of replacement barrels, and the cost of having the old barrel re-bored. I am thinking rebarreling it would be much cheaper/quicker.

Pending on the make and condition, sentimental value, etc. it would be a personal call on reworking it or wall hanger.

I had a T/C Renegade .50 rebored to .54 by Bob Hoyt and was amazed at the difference. He is in Pennsylvania. Ed Rayl out of West Virginia does this as well.

Is the barrel 15/16s or 1" across the flats?

Good question. Let me check. May I ask how much it cost you to do that?

yes I worked with him and he has mounted some deer heads for me great guy.

Good deal. He's gotten pretty darn good. I keep telling him he needs to drop all the other side jobs and start doing it full-time.
