6 volt lanter battery power

Who has quit using the AA batteries in their cams and went to the 6 volt lantern batteries, And where can you buy the power cords. I'm hoping the lantern batteries would keep a camera operating for 3 or 4 months? Do you set the battery on the ground, or...? thanks

I use Lithium batteries. They last all year.
