Thanks to Facebook for reminding me of this pic today. 6 years ago I made my first scouting trip for turkeys to a local WMA. I had hunted once the year before, but with a friend on a private farm and we struck out.

So on this spot, I received a tip about it from someone who used to hunt there a lot. I found the birds roosted along the river and spent most of my first season hunting that area. I killed my first turkey I think on April 9th of that year, on my 3rd hunt. A jake at 6 yards. As well as I remember that jake going down, I also remember watching this sunrise. Good times

That's good stuff. I thought it had been longer then 6 years since you started, you've done well in a relatively short time chasing the devil bird

Thanks, and I'm sure you can understand since you chase them harder than I do, in those mountains with the 4 wheeler crow call hillbillies. Hey it was almost 5 years ago I shot one off the roost... I have not done it again nor do I want to, but I am still not sorry for it, and I still don't regret it. :tu: :D

I think this is what I like most about you, Cat. You're never afraid to talk about something, even if you know it's the unpopular opinion. I know people who have limb lifted turkeys but would deny it untl their dying day. Even if I dont agree with something, I admire that you know where you stand, and you stand there.

You've only been chasing them a few years, and you kill more than the vast majority, mostly on public ground. If you ever come through Jackson, I'll but you a beer.
