7.5 lead shot for turkeys

Anyone ever use 7.5 lead shot on turkeys. I know you would have to keep your shots close but i know some old timers that use to use them.

I haven't but I wouldn't have see any problem with shooting one at 25 yards as long the pattern is good.

It's hard not to get a good pattern at 25 yards with 7.5 lead. My daughter has been using them for a while now with a factory full. She's killed 2 turkeys and killed a tree year before last (happens to the best of us )

I don't let her shoot past 25 but I think they would kill to 30.

I finally got a double barrel to turkey hunt with. I'm going to use 7.5 lead for my close range barrel.

If you can find some of the old Federal Premium 3" 2 ounce #7.5 Copper Plated loads I can assure you that with the right choke they will kill a turkey graveyard dead at 40 yards.

I agree with SKFOOTER. I should clarify I'm talking about 2 3/4 20 gauge loads

they do great in my son's first gun, a 20 gauge single shot. When we hunt together, he has his new auto, and I take the single 20 with 7.5's for a close shot
