reloaded my first 7mm08 as i have only been reloading my big mags..anyway i am not even using max loads and the powder fills the case all the way to the top almost....is this normal???? I even double checked and i have the right weight in grains, but seems like the bullet is mashing the powder to get it seated

A lot of loads are compressed loads. It should say in your reloading info if it is a compressed load. My .223 loads with Varget are compressed loads. Just seat the bullet and listen for the crunch.

Hodgdon manual shows 48.5 being max and compressed. The bullet they are using is a Sierra HP BT. What bullet are you using?

My lee book lists that as a compressed charge. Lee says the case has a usefull capacity of 3.32cc and the starting loads volume is 3.26cc.
I don't have enough experience to make any recommendations but it appears that you are working inside the lines.
It is also listed as the fastest combo at a max of 2823fps.
Good luck and shoot strait,

I persoally hate compredded loads. I`d pick a faster burning powder.

While I don't mind them I do agree with you as I hate to load'em.

Likely... As that is what you get into with near case capactiy charges or those above 90% load density esp with stick/log type powders. I have no ideal if that is within book loads or not as I don't have a manual handy nor load for the 7mm-08. DOUBLE CHECK The Load and You Might want to check your scale as well.

A few tips for you IF IT IS A BOOK LOAD... 1- Use a long drop tube on your powder funnel.. 2- pour the powder into slowly..3 ligthly tap the side of the case to help settle it down this removes air poockets that from while chargeing the case..4 Seat the bullet Slowly to avoid bulgeing the case...5 Head to the range.
