Wow, they were fired up today. I guess the weather improving had them going nuts. We stayed on birds till 2pm when we had to break for lunch. Too many highlights from today, but the best was a pair that we were on for 2 hours midday gobbling nonstop that came in to 45 yards but we couldn't see them in the underbrush. A hen came back from laying and went to them, shutting them down for 20 min, but for some reason they came back from 300 yards to 60 yards hanging up until another hen flew right over our heads to them. She promptly led them away and it was over. We went back at 5pm to see if he wanted to play, but never got a gobble.

But... we found 3 lone LBs that shifted back onto the property we put to bed for the morning. Going to try for a triple.

Best day I've had in the woods in years, but I think I wore my buddies out :)

The hot bird is dead. Never got the 3 bachelor birds to commit, but the loudmouth from the past 2 days came right in at noon when his hens left to lay. 10 min hunt. My friends first for the year, and he had a helluva thick beard.
