8 Year Old Killing It!

I have to brag on my best friend's son Cullen. This young man is absolutely fanatical about hunting turkeys. This is his third season chasing gobblers. He killed a jake his first season, tagged out last year on 2 jakes and a gobbler, and only has one tag left to punch this year with 2 very nice birds under his belt! His dedication to turkey hunting is well beyond anything I've personally experienced for a kid his age. He's been fortunate enough to be surrounded by family and friends that support and mentor his efforts. He has aspirations of being involved in the hunting industry in some fashion, and has actually made some contacts with TV personalities and gear manufacturers. His dad, though an extremely successful deer hunter, admittedly has little turkey hunting experience. Cullen has actually progressed to the point of picking his own setup and doing all of the calling himself. Here are the pictures of his 2 birds so far this season:
1st 11.5" beard, 1.25" spurs, 23.6 lbs.
2nd 10.75" beard, 1" spurs, 19 lbs.
I'm going to see if he'll give me some pointers! 😁

He can make a box call sound really good! Way better than me! But, his primary would be the pot call. He's practicing with the mouth call and improving. I'll work on seeing about a video. I'd love to post one.
