I havent hunted evenings alot, but I have no choice now....Work has been rough the past few weeks and I have to work tomorrow.....
I am thinking maybe a hunt after work, maybe hit the woods at 4:00 PM or so.......Any hints on my approach.... I have less than 100 acres so there wont be much ground to cover....One side is bordered by lake bottoms and the highest point of the property is bordered by fields.... There is also a hollow that runs off of the lakebottom back into a large patch of hardwoods.... Maybe not enough info to help, but any advice would be appreciated...

Do I call alot this time of day? Do I just find a spot and sit?

Thanks,

If its a hot sunny day I would sit on the field edge or lake bottom edge. If its cloudy walk those hardwoods and call every 150-200 yards. If something answers your call try to get within a couple hundred yards and set up on em. The key to late in the day success for me is to get close because they don't respond and come to calls as well as mornings.

You will get less response on average, but if you do get a bird to answer you late in the day, you have a great chance at killing him! Also if you have any prior knowledge as to where the birds like to roost on this Property, get in there an hour or so before dark and try to catch them coming to roost.
