1.... How many of you guys use a full strut decoy? I have a foam jake and hen that I bought cheaply, but have a bass pro giftcard and see alot of videos where people are using full strutter decoys.

2. What is the difference of turkey hunting between spring and fall? I know for one the weather, but what else?

3. When does the fall season start?

Just asking, because I so far am really enjoying Turkey season what little bit I have started and what little bit I have left of the spring season.

1- not a fan personally

2- you dont really call the birds in the fall and they are grouped up sexs. Also it is MUCH easier to pattern them in the fall

3- not sure, I don't really care to fall hunt.

1 I haven't yet but hear they work great on a boss tom but subordinates will likely run away.

2 you can't call in a gobbler in the fall like you can now. They aren't breeding so they aren't getting fired up like they do now. Bushwhacking is probably a better tactic. I have had success calling in flocks of hens in the fall season though.

3 I guess you got to wait till the 2012-13 hunting guide is published.

1) I don't but only use a ratty foam hen (and rarely at that).
2) Like REN says, in the fall they are in bunches; hen/brood flocks over here, gobbler bachelor groups over there, and rarely the twain shall meet. In the fall, bust'em up and call'em back.
3) Best to consult the regs on dates and limits.

Sounds like I will mainly enjoy Spring Turkey season. Its hearing the gobble coming at me that I enjoy and just the whole thrill of sitting in anticipation.

1. I don't use or own any decoys, loathe their very existence.

2. Turkey hunting in the spring is targeting gobbling male birds and fall hunting is essentially killing the first bird which gets into range. Fall hunting is an entirely different game and someone who has actually done it, is more qualified to answer this question.

3. Don't know, don't care.

Very few "turkey" hunters seem to enjoy fall season its more of a "meat" hunter thing from what I hear and I will definitely kill one with a bow given the chance I haven't hunted the in the fall

well....meat hunting is what I am doing it for. I could care less about the trophy aspect or how big I got etc...I just want the wild food. :)

Fall hunting is great fun. The main diffrence is your calling in a whole flock where as the single bird in spring. Gobblers are a little tougher in the fall to hunt but you can kill one if you challenge the gobbler flocks pecking order.Gobbler yelps and clucks, fighting purrs and a gobble thrown in can all bring in a flock of fall Longbeards.Everyone will tell you to scatter a flock of turkeys. But if you can get that close to turkeys why not just call them in.Turkeys will come to a call whether they are scatterd or not. The main thing is to call from bird to like bird, hen calls for hens, gobbler calls, for gobblers.

1. I have a full strut decoy but have never had one come to it and therefore don't use it anymore although I did carry it to east TN the other week on my buddy's place as they use them and swear the work.

2. Spring is being interactive with them and fall is busting the flock up and calling them back or deer hunting them. I don't care for it compared to spring and don't do it.

3. No idea.
