I recently moved to GA last fall and was lucky enough to get drawn for a public land quota hunt on the first go around. This is my first GA bird, first bird I've killed by myself, and my first public land bird. The phrase "I'd rather be lucky than good" definitely describes this hunt in a nutshell.

Also, a special thanks to String Music for the new pot call that helped bring this guy in. The pecan/slate combo is a sweet sounding call!

Congrats man. You will never forget it.

I'd suggest doing a fan mount with the beard and spurs and some 8x10 framed pics to relive the hunt every time you look at it.

You won't soon forget those firsts, which are pretty big accomplishments compared to a lot of hunters firsts, including myself. You did well, and I'm sure perseverance played a role at some point. Congrats and thanks for sharing.

GA is the best state for quota hunts in my
opinion, they just know how to manage/run a hunt. Congrats!
