My wife and 11yro got drew for AEDC.

We have never been and we are excited but have some questions. Are there any good places to stay near the site? Hotels or campgrounds work for us also, can you go to scout anytime or how does that work?

They have a campground on site. Other than that there's several hotels off the exit up in Manchester.

Primitive last time I was there.

Manchester, Tullahoma are close by and several motels. About the same drive time from each to AEDC depending on what part you hunt.

I hunted AEDC during archery season a couple seasons ago and stayed at Barton Springs Campground. Nice place

Should be able to take a shotgun and squirrel hunt and scout all at the same time.

According to the regs it's open statewide except for the quota hunts.

Might check out Old Stone Fort State Park in Manchester for camping.

Unfortunately, this place is military only, well at least that's what I was told but the lady on the phone.

My wife/son drew 11/8-11/10 but I would like to go bow hunt for a few tries too.

People park campers on the hunters campground on the wma. It's primitive though

I shoot there a couple times a year and the amount of land looks overwhelming to hunt. Best of luck! I've stayed in Manchester before and it's fine.

lots of deer. Great place to hunt. At a minimum, get a compass and keep it with you. And if possible have a handheld GPS. I don't get lost, never have, but in many areas of AEDC, you can get turned around, and it happens fast. Like I said, many deer, I have almost always killed a deer on most any hunt I go to there.

We hunted it last yr, stayed in Airbnb right next to the hunting area, I believe they are some local campground areas close too. some of the units stay closed until the hunt opens so odds are you probably only can scout unit 4, 5, 6.
