I have been looking at a couple of new pieces of property that I will be hunting.

The aerial maps on Bing are much more current! Also, the aerial view is more current than the Bird's eye view on Bing, for whatever reason. So, you will need to click that box in the Birds Eye view drop down.

Bing has newer photos for some areas, mainly middle TN. Most west TN areas are a lot more current with Google Maps (Sep/Oct 2011 photos). I am not familiar with East TN areas. It all depends on when the aerial contractor flew the area of interest, the entire state is rarely done all at the same time (every few years by USDA). Another good link for more rural areas is EJView. It uses Bing aerials for it's backdrop and has more updated aerials in certain areas of interest, pretty useful IMO. Our member Steven Stone turned me onto it. My advice to all is to look at your particular area of interest in all three viewers and determine for yourself which is the most current (new clearcuts, new roads, new structures, etc).

Good advice.

The way I discovered it was the map on an app on my phone showed some clearing that the Google map did not. When I checked the app to see which map it was using, it was the Bing aerial.

Try usining flashearth I use it and love it! I think it's flashearth.com if not google it.

Bing maps for my area are from last summer. Google Earth maps are from about 4 years ago around here. There is one Bing map that actually shows one of my buddies trucks parked where we are doing some of our research.

google maps used to have an out dated, low resolution map of yanahli. So I used Bing maps for my yanahli satellite map that I made. But just last night, I discovered brand new, clear quality Google map imagery of yanahli. It's recent and clear enough that I can tell the boat I found in the duck river is not there in the map. Looks like the images may have been taken in Jan or Feb.

Google maps updated some places recently. I can see my house on there now so I know it is summer 09 or more recent. Just my luck though, the updated maps stopped just short of where I hunt most.

I'm in middle TN and I just checked google maps. The pic of my neighborhood is within the previous month and it's so detailed I can see my dog in the backyard.
