Slept in and waited for a gap in the storms yesterday. Went out around 1:00 or so and filled my last tag for the 2021 season on this afternoon yodeler. Minutes after arriving at this small tract of land we heard this bird fire off in a deep ravine that had recently been clear-cut. We hit the woodline and setup in the corner of the field. I sent him a couple calls and he answered right back so I shut up. He has been silent for a while and I was expecting him to show up any minute. Then we hear gravels popping on the road and some sketchy car comes ripping up the road and we see a man also walking the road. The car picks him up and burns out. Needless to say I wasn't happy. If I was a little more hot headed I might have blew the hunt by confronting them or just leaving after all the noise they made. I decided it was worth waiting a little longer. Sure enough he came slipping through the field to me minutes later and I killed him stone dead at 30 yards. First bird I've killed that did not flop whatsoever.
