Looks to be very young to me. Not sure though.

That's what I was thinking but it's good to hear other thoughts as well. It looks like a 4 point yearling from last year i had. Can't wait to see what he grows into.

My GUESS is he's a 2 1/2 (or will be by Fall).
Even though he doesn't have many points, he's still what I'd call approaching "top-end" on antler size for a 2 1/2.

If he survives to 4 1/2, he may never be more than an 8-point mainframe (if that), but he may carry a MASSIVE & WIDE RACK!

Just me personally, but I'm more impressed with a 150-class 8-pointer than a 150-class 10-pointer, so fewer points may just make him a more unique trophy. Wouldn't surprise me if this one becomes a gigantic mainframe 7-pointer should he survive a couple more years.

Well if it's up to me, which we all know I am only one variable, he will make it that far. I was just impressed with the shape and width of the rack on him. He has a good bit of mass as well. Or maybe that's just me being partial or thinking he is bigger than he is due to him being on my farm. lol!

Even if he's 3 1/2 now, I believe he's "above average" regarding antler size, especially on the width.
But if he should be only 2 1/2 this year, he should have some COLOSSAL growth to add in the coming year. Unfortunately (imo), most above average 2 1/2's have a lot less chance of surviving to 3 1/2.

Wes, thank you for taking time out of your day to chat with me about my deer, his age and size. I have been working hard on my family farm with food plots and mineral sites and a total management plan now for only about 3 years and I always like to get others advice and pick their brains. Just makes it worth while to hear somebody else say they think it's a nice deer too. And to all the other age guesses thanks as well.

Looks as if he has a brow tine starting to grow as well.
Am posting the below due to some similarities, and my apologies to those who have seen before.

The rack is from the hunter-killed buck when he was believed to be 4 1/2 or older (possibly 5 1/2). The single shed was from when he was believed to be 3 1/2 (but possibly 4 1/2), but at any rate, from the prior year when killed. This buck was a main-frame 6-pointer (no brows) when younger, non-scoreable brows (less than an inch long) when believed to be 3 1/2, and brows barely an inch when killed as a 4 1/2.

As a 4 1/2 or older buck, this one gross scored 117 3/8 when killed in 2011.

I believe Snag's 5-pointer is starting out better than this one, but has a similar brow situation. Snag's 5-pointer will probably be more impressive and out-score the antlers I've posted above should he live another year or two.
