Re: Age opinion? Thanks

Not the best angle but he looks to be 3.5.

Re: Age opinion? Thanks

No matter the age, he's a shooter no doubt! But, I'm thinking around 3ish.

He screams 3.5 yo to me. There is a ton of potential in that buck right there...id be praying I got a shot at him next year because I'd say with the jump to 4.5 he's going to be all over 150"!!!

Date is 1/20. Those are the only good pics I have.
You sure retrieved them quickly!
Not the best time for aging, but I believe this is a very top-end young buck, possibly as young as 2 1/2. He also looks very healthy and well-fed, which sometimes can make a 2 1/2 present much like a 3 1/2.

My best guess is he's 3 1/2, and a very top-end 3 1/2 at that.
I believe he'll add a huge amount of antler mass to what he already has when he grows his next set this summer.

How do you think he was able to survive the 2015 deer season?

it's woods habitat without very many fields at all and the woods are very thick so hunting is tough. In a lot of the county, he wouldn't make it through season because a spotlighter would get him. Thankfully they just don't have the fields to do that in around this place.

Great buck. Post rut aging is very similar to summer aging, take it all in, come up with your best guess and add a year for body size that has been lost from running does for 60-70 days. He looks 3.5, but I would bet he is 4.5. If he is 4.5, that could possibly explain how he avoided hunters when compared to most 3.5s, who are seen at some point, and typically by more than one hunter. I can assure you 98% of TN hunters are slinging lead if/when they see this buck, so he either slipped through the cracks or was possibly shot at and missed. Best of luck with him next year, he ought to be the real deal with his next set of antlers.

It will be fun to track this buck. He should be fairly distinguishable with that inside kicker off his right G2.
