I'm trying to decide if this guy is on his way down or not...looks like a wide 6 pointer.

That deer appears to be mature. He is very muscular in his front quarter. I imagine during the rut he would have looked like a buffalo.

I don't think he is old enough to be "on his way down" - probably 3 1/2 or 4 1/2. He is just an under-achiever, antler-wise.

Agreed. That buck is not "on his way down." He just grew smaller antlers than average for his age.

Another example: body-wise, a fairly "studly" looking 3 1/2 year-old buck, but only a big 6-point rack.

for some reason I really want a big 6 piont on the wall.

I tried very hard to kill the above pictured 3 1/2 year-old 6-point, to no avail. He was killed by one of my brothers-in-law the following year. At 4 1/2, the buck sported an "average" 8-point rack for his age (grossed around 120).

Body looks better than the antlers, my first imp. was 2.5 but his body imp. was 3.5......he def is large.

I was going to say 4.5 based on the first pic, but I think he's just a 3.5 run down from the rut/winter based on the better 2nd pic.

He'll be mature and ripe for the picking this year
