now that i'm looking at a bigger picture on my desktop instead of phone screen, i definitely see 4.5

4.5 would be my guess as well. If you get him mounted, see if taxidermist will save both sets of lower jawbones for more clues.

He's 3 1/2. Back is pretty straight, not much guy, front legs does not have short appearance, neck and chest aren't quite there yet. 3 1/2 is my vote.
