Anybody here using them? Went to get a new deep frier and saw these things. I am not in the loop on cooking stuff so they were new to me. I didn't buy one. Apparently I'm one of the few people without one around here. My mother-in-law found out I was asking about them and brought a brand new one over to give me. She said she had never even tried using it. Said I could cook her something in it and that would be payment enough. So now I have one.

Just did a batch of frog legs in it and turned out good. The only catch is, that it takes a long time in them. Something like the frog legs takes about 20-25 mins in it, and you have to stop halfway and turn them. Deep frying is faster but this is "supposedly" healthier.

I've got 2. I love them. I don't use any oil in mine at all. Cooked corn dogs in it just yesterday.

After using mine a few times, I don't like it that much. I tried doing some squash and things in it but it doesn't seem to do that very well. I had mine in cornmeal batter but it didn't turn golden brown...still looked like corn meal to me. That was after 25 mins at 400 degrees.

Will probably be fine for things like mozzarella sticks or fries that are frozen and already battered.

When I saw this thread appear, I was excited to see some new recipes. But, it looks like everyone has the same opion of them as me- not that special.

I mainly use mine for frozen fries or chicken nuggets for the kids. I did cook a thin pork chop in it after marinating it in Worcestershire, a little brown sugar, and soy sauce. I also tenderized it in the bag/marinade. Turned out pretty good, but nothing that a grille or oven can't do.

Still interested in any good recipes if there are any...

Exactly. They are convenient, but don't really do a better job at cooking than other methods.

Wifey has one, uses it regular, she likes it, Im not so in love with it, seems things are a little on the dry side and just aint the same texture as what I like.
