Anyone hunt AL?

Today was the first day I could hunt. Heard 2 birds but couldn't get anything going. They were very tight lipped this morning, just wondering if the same everywhere.

I killed one Thursday and Friday and hunted until 4 today and didn't hear the first gobble. I haven't heard 25 all week though. Mine aren't gobblingand I know they are there. Called in a few hens and a yote today was all.

Did you manage to kill him?

He smelled us at about 20 yards behind a ton of brush and bolted back and around us out of range. I had already managed to take the Nitro out of the chamber and stick a straight 6 in just for him without getting busted. I keep a few 2 3/4" rounds in my vest for dogs, snakes, yotes, tresspassers, etc :D

Leaving for my annual MS, Bama, GA trip tomorrow. From the reports I got from down south it is business as usual. Birds henned up in big flocks with a few subordinate birds single and lonely.

No gobbling this morning and yes I have them there, got tons of trail camera pics of them. Hoping they will open up in the next week or so, maybe next weekend

Try them midmorning or early afternoon. Sometime all the hens leave the gobbler to nest all at once and he's lonely. That can be the best time to kill him.I have heard them start gobbling at noon.Set up and call and alot of times the gobbler will run in and accept a load of shot. And it never hurts to set up and call blind for a while, Providing you know there are turkeys in the area.
