The trash talk thread got me to thinking. Is there anyone that hunts LBL exclusively. I myself do not, but usually try and save a bird for over there, being as it's right across the big pond from the house.

I hunt LBL hard but legally I don't think you can take all 4 birds from there. I am fairly positive that the maximum is 2 and that is counting in the bonus/quota bird. LBL bag limit in TN anyway is 2 birds. I think KY may only be 1. But, I will be there this season, I have a lot of birds to hunt on private land but theres just something about those LBL longbeards.

My fault on the 4 birds part of the question. I've never had that many left to kill, so I never gave that any thought. Same here, SX3..there's something about them that brings a little gratitude. Grizzly, there's an extra room for you at the house, if you decide to come this way.

Anybody that kills two of their four birds there get my utmost respect.

That was kinda where I was going with my original post. Again, my fault on the 4.

Been there once. Drove down the road at daylight stopped and listened a few spots. Heard one gobbling. Noone was parked there. Went to him and set up and called. He flew down with hens. Made a big circle to back of ridge. Hit slate call and he went nuts. Literally covered 300 yards by the time I sat down and my gun was on the ground and he was full strut at 15 yards. Finally he turned away and I got gun and shot him. 23 lb 10 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. Only time I ever been there. Ha Ha. Doesn't happen that way much.

Cat, some may disagree, but it has been my experience that the birds act better and there is less pressure during the open hunt later in the season. Seems like everybody that draws a permit for the quota is there for the quota hunts.

I only put in for a possible chance at a bonus bird, I should have enough good turkey hunting around here to keep me satisfied

SS is 100% correct. I always put in for the quota hunts but it usually turns out to be a crap shoot. You only have two days to hunt on the quotas and the weather plays a major roll in your success. Been there on one quota when the temp was 17 degrees, one when it snowed all day and others with all kinds of weather. Cat, you will be hooked on the place. The good thing is after you get the permit, you can hunt the open hunts but only the quota hunt is a bonus bird.
