I went by gander mountain to check out one of the string suppressors and bought a String Tamer. It's got my Bear a little bit quieter and really makes it shoot smoother. It was already smooth shooting but now you can't hardly tell you released the string. I also had my speed checked since i recently went from a 500 grain arrow to a 340 grain arrow(Victory V3 HV). I was shooting in the mid 240s fps. After i added the stringtamer and new arrows my first shot was 299 fps my next 2 were 300fps. My ibo is 302-305 it's a Bear Element i think '07 model. I also shot the Bear Attack '10 model I couldn't tell a difference in speed, but the draw wasn't as smooth as mine the shot was about the same (very smooth).

How good are the arrows flying ? Have you paper tuned or done any walk back or broadhead tuning ? Additional speed is great , but it doesn't always equate to increased accuracy , especially with broadheads .
I found that out last year while shooting broadheads @ 315 fps with light arrows. They wind planed more at higher speeds . I was shooting Slick Tricks .
When I went to my slower setup , I started slamming them right in there with field points.
Speed can be a significant factor in accuracy when judging yardage , but it can also magnify tuning and shooting form flaws .
Don't base your hunting bow based purely on FPS . Give or take a few FPS for optimum arrow flight .

The new arrows fly great. I would be lucky to hit a dinner plate at 50 yards with the old carbon furys. Now with my victorys i can consistently be on target at 100 yards. As far as broadheads go i have Rage, Trufire, Walmart expandables, and just bought some Hellrazors 1-1/8 inch cutting diameter. I have paper tuned the bow this year but will do it again before i shoot broadheads.

Thats good . Sometimes guys these days get caught up in getting the most FPS from a bow and disregard tuning for optimum arrow flight .
