Well I took my little brother out this morning on the juvy hunt. We got there, got set up, called and got a bird to answer us. Next thing I know he sticks his head up over the ridge and saw my B-mobile decoy and putted. He headed back the way that he came from. I got my little brother up and we made a circle on him. We got set up watching an open, rolling hillside and this time I just set up my hen decoy. I knew the gobbler was just out of sight over the hill. I got my Old yeller slate out, cut at him,and he hammered. Next thing I know here he comes strutting over the top of the hill. He saw the decoy and came in on a string. Just before he got to us he went down in a big gulley about 25 yards away. I had my brother pointing his gun where I thought the bird would step out. All of a sudden I see his white head comming up way to my brother's left, and directly in front of me. He stepps out in front of us at 19 yards and goes into strut. The bird is directly in front of me and I'm sitting there with my hands in my lap hoping the bird will head to the decoy so my little brother can get a shot. Next thing I know he sees something he doesnt like and starts putting at us. I told my brother to swing the gun around to get on him and when he did the bird ran back down in the gulley and took off. Another almost story to post to my Topic from a few weeks ago. It was nice to have the birds working well, but it was hard to swallow watching that bird get away. I'm going back after him Saturday morning.
