I may sell my 60-70 lb Hoyt Katera and drop back to a 50-60 lb bow. I was wondering how smooth the draw was on the AlphaMax. My shoulder does not like harsh draw cycles.

I have a alphaMax 35 the draw is very similar in my oppinon. Great shooting bow,not a whole lot of valley at full draw.

The AlphaMax is getting rave reviews. I shot a field round with a guy from west TN who used an AM35. It was very nice.

Did you shoot any since we talked last? Is your shoulder getting better?

I did shoot Sat about 20 times or so. Backed Katera down to 60 lbs or so. Put on a Hind Sight I bought at Bass Pro and experimented with that. I think I will like that. I do not use peep sights so I am always tinkering with a No Peep or something like that.

Did weight Fri night at gym. Just hiked Radnor with 25 lbs. Shoulder is about the same, but is not worse. Hopefully, I will slowly improve and I can keep shooting.

Still considering a new bow , a 50--60 lb smooth draw, 35" or so with a short enough brace height to maintain speed. I may sell my Katera even if I have to take a beating on the price.

Feel free to list other bows from Mathews or PSE that compare to the AM.

If you are looking for a smooth drawing bow. Take a look at the Mathews Drenalin LD. IT's gotta be the smoothest drawing bow I have ever owned. The AM is a very nice machine, but the draw isn't much different than the last couple years models from Hoyt.

The Drenalin LD is a nice one for sure (I love my two :D ), but it's 37". You are welcome to shoot mine anytime you want to; just remember my DL is 1.5" shorter than yours. It's comparable to your Ultratec in geometry if I'm remembering right.

The Bowtechs with smooth mods would be a good option too, but I don't know of a local dealer now that the place in Columbia closed.

The AM35 is a really good bow though. Joe doesn't have any at Hermitage Archery, maybe they have one you could shoot at Steve's in Columbia.
