I am going to try it this year! Told myself the Mossberg isn't coming out of the safe untill I get one with a bow!

Any tips or pointers is appeciated!

I'm right there with ya! My advice: buy a good blind, especially if you hunt a lot of open fields. Oh yeah, using a full strut decoy almost makes it unfair! :)

I've killed a few birds with my bow. All spring birds were killed with a blind and gobbler decoy. The main thing I can say is to put your blind and your decoy where they are both visible for a long ways. I've had several gobblers coming in and see the gobbler decoy at the last minute, geek out then leave. Also the same thing with the blind leave it unbrushed and in the open if they're coming in they will. That has worked for me. Oh yeah I shoot body shots and the best shots for me have one thing in common, the spine. Either going or coming.

I am thinking about getting me a good blind. I have heard that is the only way to go for turkeys. As for shot placement I will go for the body unless he gets really close!I have been told to aim right above where his legs meets his body.

Sounds Like a good plan

HAHA, tried it, and that would be a big no. I have been fortunate to kill well into the hundred+ longbeards over my life, and I will never get tired of shooting them with a shotgun. I tried the bow thing, but it didn't work out well, lost birds, missed birds, blown opportunities etc etc. I would not stoop to killing them with blinds, nothing against folks who do, I wanted to do it with nothing but a tree to hide me, you know the "ultimate challenge", well it whipped me. Shotguns only for me please :)

I have a coworker who has killed a few. He sees it as the ultimate challenge.

No blind, but he may have used a hen decoy. He positions himself on one knee with a large tree on his left side to shield him and stays there while working the birds. Quite a feat!

Just got a Z7 on Saturday. Im pumped for turkey season. As far as ground blinds are concerned, it depends on your terrain. Our land has many hills and valleys so it is easier to hunt without a blind. When we get into the woods (10 yds) we are eye level with the field.

I said the same thing. Are you going for head shots or body?

Center mass, directly inline with the legs. Use a large cut mechanical broadhead. I use Rocket Hammerheads, 100gr 2 inch cut.
