I'm simply in awe at this moment. I have been shooting a Strother Moxie since about February. I like almost everything about the bow. I like how it draws, how it feels, etc. The one thing is though...all this time I have been shooting it, I haven't been accurate with it at all. Despite it being in tune and being able to shoot a bare shaft with a fletched shaft out to 25 yards. Up until today, I have always just contributed this to me being in a rut and trying to iron out some kinks. For a bow strictly for tournaments, I noticed my scores being less than average...but just contributed it to still being me. Since having this bow, I have shot hundreds and hundreds of arrows through it, and have yet to robin hood an arrow with it. I've not even came close to it with it...even with group shooting it.

All this time, I have had another bow that has simply been sitting in the corner. It is my hunting bow for the yr...a Strother Hope. Not a target bow by any means. 34" a-a and 6" brace height. This afternoon I decided to start getting her tuned up for hunting season since tournament season is winding down...took it outside to fling a few arrows with it and noted how well it was shooting. I made a slight arrow rest adjustment and she was ready. Within 10 minutes...robin hood...and that is the first 10 minutes I have spent shooting this bow. Just to be sure it wasn't just me having a good shooting day...I grabbed the Moxie and went back outside. And it was typical for me shooting that bow...no better than a softball size group at 25 yards. The Hope at 25 yds = robin hood and slapping arrows off one another; enough to know NOT to group shoot with it. I'm going to spend some more time with the HOPE. As of now, it is going to Cullman with me for the Classic.

Some bows just seem to be perfect shooters for some reason, had a brand new bow that went back to the factory for repairs & the store owner gave me an old Jennings for a loaner, the Jennings shot rings around my new high dollar bow, it just worked for some reason.

I wouldn't think the stabilizer would be it...they are the same brand, length & weight except one is all black and the other is grey & silver. The class I shoot in has restrictions on stabilizers so I just use the hunting setup.

These bows even have the same cam system on them but they feel entirely different...one is a touch longer draw length (the hunting bow) while the target bow is a smidge shorter due to shooting it with draw stops and such at 70% letoff....the Hope is at 80% letoff and thus the draw stops allow the cam to advance a bit further giving it a longer draw and different feel. Maybe it's just that I can shoot a 80% letoff better...will play around some and put the Moxie on 80% to see what happens. Otherwise...I wish I had picked the Hope up sooner.

I think you answered your own question as to why you were shooting better with one bow vs. the other .

I have come to think that the grip angle has alot more to do with your shooting than most folks realize. Most of the time from bow to bow it is very small and even unnoticed but it is there nonetheless. I had a Martin bow bow once that I couldn't shoot at all. Loved the bow but after about 8 shots my bow arm was hurting from wrist to my shoulder. I could change bows and it never hurt me a time. Some bows you can just naturally find your grip sweet spot and on others you have to dig for it. Just pay attention to how easy it is to find your grip. May be your problem.

Cool, sounds like you got a good setup. I wonder how well my older Champion would shoot if I were really in good shooting shape. Of course all I need is a softball sized group at 25, to kill a deer with lungs the size of a melon. Wonder why your target bow is less accurate. I don't know much about bows... seems to easy to get real technical with bows and I try to keep it simple for myself. :D

I have no idea why one is better for me vs the other. But I do know I wish I would have picked the Hope up sooner in the tournament season. This bow is incredible for a 6" brace height, short axle to axle bow. I've wore the 12 rings out of my new target and am REALLY excited about the Classic this weekend in Alabama.
