They were henned up bad. Endless gobbling but no forward momentum. I finally got on a hen's nerves and she started fussing at me and I gave it right back to her. She came in ready to fight and he was with her. When he saw the decoy he puffed up. She didn't enjoy that much and got between him and the decoy and tried to start a fight. He was so intent on watching the catfight he raised his head to get a better view. Shame.

Nice job... I harvested my first turkey of the year opening day similarly, minus the decoy... She had him on a string and was still yelping every thirty seconds with him in tow. I started talking over her and cutting her off and she couldnt stand it, brought him right to me... it can be a good method when a gobbler is with a hen and she is still vocal and bossy....

Good deal! When you can tick off that ole hen, big dummy will usually follow her right on in. I think it's one of the best ways to pull one in gun range when henned up, every new Turkey hunter needs to learn this tactic. Glad she wanted to argue with you. Congrats!

Congrats! I spent the entire day talking to hens. Only one came in, but the Tom stayed out 100yds with another.

Just wanted to share that I read this yesterday and today it helped me kill a turkey. Basically same situation. The education one can learn from this site is priceless. Let's remember to keep sharing education and stories!
