My buddy and I went to a farm this morning we haven't hunted but one time this year to try and get him his last one for the season. We heard a few different birds gobbling on neighboring properties right at daylight but none on the place we were on, we finally heard one bird a couple hundred yards away, we start toward him and get as close as we thought we should. He only gobbled 2 or 3 times on the limb. I did a fly down cackle and he cut me off, he flew down and stayed in the woods awhile and I hit him with some soft yelps with the crystal mistress, he gobbled a couple of times but never would come out in the field, I did some aggressive cutting followed by some yelps and he finally came out in a small field that we were set up on, he strutted and did a lot of drumming about 75 yards out in the field but never would commit. I pulled out my Matt Mclain sassafras slate and did some soft clucks and purrs and that was all it took, he strutted right in to 30 yards and my buddy let him have it.
