my `Smith in Memphis has my Bartlien 29 inch #17HV 8 twist 6.5mm barrel and should have my Stiller Tac 30 action middle of the week,,

barrel will be finished at about 27 1/2 to 28 inches and throated to shoot 140 Berger Hybirds and fit in the AI mags with the Stiller/Bartlien barreled action on the AICS FDE 1.5 chassis and Atlas spigot mount and bipod,,and the Jewell trigger,,

I had to sell a few things to make this happen but my safe was running over and I actually made a little money on what I sold so I still have about the same amount of moneys worth of rifles but it freed up 2 spots in the safe and I am finally going to get a true full on custom rig I have been dreaming about for 20 years,

if this caliber is 2/3rds of what everybody claims I will be a really happy shooter,,

shooting a 140 gr bullet with .620 BC at 2900 fps while only using 40 grs of powder seems like a stretch but with the long barrel and the throat set so the bullet wont rob any powder space it may well do it,,

gonna be a fun summer shooting,,Lord willing
 
Man that's cheap on powder, how $ are the bullets?. I don't reload but love to shoot my savage smokeless due to the cost per shot. I just wished I had gotten into reloading years ago.
 
Mr. Big I have a box of those hybrids (6.5 140 gr.) I'll sell if you want them $35 tyd
 
Mr.big what case is that base off of didn't see it in my Nosler reloading guide ver.6? I think you will need more than 40gr to reach 2900fps with 140gr bullet. What reloading guide is it in?

it is 6.5x47 Lapua,,308 bolt face with small primer pocket,shortened case trim length 1.840 and 30* shoulder,,

it is not in any load manual that I know of but everybody that has one that is throated for the 140`s and have 28-30 inch barrels all say it will blow your mind,,we will see,,

I am shooting 308 Win 175 SMK with 45 grs Varget at 2720 fps,,the 6.5 140 just at 2800 is 10 MOA flatter and wind drift is 40% less at 1,000 yards,,that is a lot IMO,,and doing it with 6-7 grs less powder and 35 grs less bullet,,

hopefully it will obsolete a couple other rifles I have and I can have a twin put together to shoot the 7mm 180 Birds from a long action 284 case for longer range work,,
 
with more studying the 130 may actually be the way to go,,it takes a long ways for the xtra BC to overcome the extra FPS
 
Mr. big you got me wanting to more testing with my 260. I check the vel. it avg. 2743fps for 6 shots 140gr berger vld with h4831sc 26" tube. I think I will change powder 1st then may go to 130gr or lighter bullet.
