For sure, to be legal, but most hunters can't see the difference between 2.5" and 3.25" at 50 yards. My explanation above could have happened if the hunter misjudged a spike then checked it in as it really was, rather than being deceitful and lying on the check in progress, My bet is a mistake at check-in time. 2 mistakes out of 500 deer is pretty good record for TN hunters.I'm pretty sure it has to be longer than 3 inches thats the purpose of the hunt to kill a velvet buck
