I have had a custom 300 RUM for about 7 yrs. now and up until now I have only shot 210 gr. Bergers from HSM but now I want to start reloading for it. I have the press, scales, case trimmer and tumbler already, will buy dies soon. I have reloaded for 30-30 Win, 30-06, 300 Win Mag and 44 Mag currently or in the past but up until now just haven't bought the dies for the 300 RUM. Plan on shooting a 200 gr. Barnes LRX open to suggestions on powder and charge weights for some of your go to loads. Thought process is if you have a good starting point I might be able to adjust it to my gun pretty easily.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I shot a crap load of Retumbo with a 200 Accubond that was going like 3200 fps ..with the Barnes bullet you cant use my data so I wont list it..start about 95 hrs and work up from there...

I'd do like I typically do with any new cartridge I start loading for and look at the Hodgdon website for loads. Beyond that, there is no guarantee that a load that works well in another rifle will be equally good in yours.

I would go with Retumbo since it gives the highest velocity at approximately equal pressure compared to other appropriate powders.

Can't help on that bullet weight, however will throw this out .. 150gr pills n IMR-7828 was good in both of mine.. Win. n Abolt..

Pushing a 150 grainer with 96 grains of anything....egads you gonna know you touched that one off.

That would kill a deer so quick it would have died yesterday.

And I love seeing IMR7828 keep on popping up. I am back to that powder in my 243.

I like re25 under the 200AB's. 2280 fps, but a little pressure signs if I shoot over 70 degrees. (30" barrel). There is a new slower alliant powder I'd like to try, but just don't shoot that rifle as much anymore and don't want to fiddle with new load development.

Mine ran 3,650 with RL-22 and a 150 tsx. However, it had to go down the road. I hated shooting that gun. Felt like a dam sledgehammer hitting me...

Was a very accurate load in mine though.
