Looking to possibly move my FF3 off the receiver and to a speed bead mount. Any opinions people have or issues? I really want to keep the FF3 for turkey hunting but previous years i had a dedicated turkey gun and used a different gun to dove and duck hunt with. Well not I bought a SBE2 to do it all with so i will have to take the site off after turkey season each year. Looking for the easiest way to put it back on and not hav ing to waste a bunch of HTL shells to site it back in all the time.

I was going to get a burris 336 base to put it on with a more low profile look but I am not sure i want to put the mount on the receiver if i am going to be taking the site off each spring, thought maybe the speed bead would be easier.

anyways any opinions or suggestions feel free to share.

I have a FF2 on a speed bead on a 870. Honestly I think the speed bead mount is a little light metal wise and could bend fairly easily. I'd look one over before I bought it. The mounting could be different for the SBE2.
I do like the low mounting height and think I would be effective for wing shooting. Mine is on a dedicated turkey gun with a shurshot stock.
Congrats on the new gun. I really wanted a SBE2 last year, but picked up a lightly used SX3 for half the price. It seems to be a good shooting gun.
I wonder if a good machinist could set you up with a beefier mount using the 336 base and flat stock simular to your stock shims?

Ren, if you haven't yet, go check out oldgobbler.com. You"ll find a lot of information in their forms section. There are several over there that use/have used the FF2 & FF3 with the speed bead mount.

yeah i have looked over there but i can't seem to find a ton of reviews or discussions on just the mount. Most are issues mounting to remingtons or sx3 guns which don't concern me.

I'm just looking for some pros and cons from folks that have used the mount. I am very torn between that and the Burris 336 base. I think the speed bead would be easier to remove and recenter each spring with the steady grip stock AND would not have issues with needing a comb riser for mounting on the receiver. However with the 336 base i may not actually need a comb riser but i would have to send the base off to get drilled to fit my SBE2.

I've got mine mounted with their mount between the stock and receiver on a sbe2. It is rock solid and what like most about it is that it's ultra low profile and out of the way.

I am incredibly critical of gear, and I have zero criticisms of the speed bead sight
