I have hunted Turkeys for the last few years in the spring and have been sucessful.

Can you actually call in a Turkey in the fall season or is it more of a wait and catch one passing?

I haven't actually fall hunted them yet. But what I hear is that most people locate a flock first and then sneak in close. Some sneak in close and then bust the flock so they scatter. Then set up near where they were busted and use soft assembly calls to bring them back together. Also, kee kees are supposedly a good fall call but I don't know... personally, I will be trying the spot-and-stalk method and ambush them with little or no calling.

yes, just bust up the flock, sit down in some cover, and just kee-kee them right back in. Shoot all the little 4-5 lber's you want.

Not my idea of fun- almost cheating, and I wish we would do away with fall hunting of hens and poults.

I almost believe that you can't overcall in the fall. Call call and call some more, yelps, kee kee's, throw the sink at them. I have called up singles, 4 or 5, and upwards of 30 in the fall. Gobblers in the fall really don't give a dang about being together at all so busting them up and trying to call them back together doesn't work because they will run alone just as well as with 20 buddies. Hens and poults are another story, call them and they will come. Get momma fired up and talking and she might just come. Good luck, take plenty of shells.

I won't shoot any poults. Saw four at the garden yesterday... little meat, a lot of potential to be good shooters in a year or three.
