peacock yet? I've called in 2 in past years and I thought it was a rarity. It seems it's not that rare. They do come in just like a gobbler and strut around just like a silent gobbler. The 2 times I've had them come in they strutted right in front of me no more than 10 yards away.

I was hunting in the afternoon a few years ago and heard a turkey gobble. He started gobbling pretty steady, and as I got closer I figured out he was gobbling at a peacock that was . . . crowing (?). I sat up and called and they both came in. I had to wait for the peacock to clear before I could shoot the gobbler.

I've never called one in but a farm I use to hunt in Smith county would have one in with the flock of turkeys from time to time. First time I saw it I didn't know there was one out there. I saw it from about 400yds off and thought OH MY GOD THAT IS A GIANT TURKEY hahaha. After getting my binos on I was quickly deflated

I had one on a farm I used to hunt too...plenty of mornings when that peacock was my "locator call."

As a kid, the first time hunting a place I was completely unfamiliar with, I worked a bird close but he stayed hung up just over the hill. I belly-crawled to peek over the hill and there was a big'ol fat yardbird and a peacock strutting for all thye was worth alongside this little house...felt like an idiot wasting the morning on someone's pet.

I bet that dang turkey weighed 43 pounds; he could barely walk. Prolly why he couldn't come on up that hill without having stroke.
