Anyone happen to have some Harold Fowler Strikers they wanna sell

I don't have any, but any decent wood turner should be able to copy one for you.

You say this… but I have a striker I have often tried to copy to no avail. I contend it has something to do with the cut and grain of the wood used, and what finish they used.

I would love to figure out how to make a striker that was as consistent as the two pieces I currently use.

The actual piece of wood does have an effect on calls. Grain direction and density due to growth can make a difference. I make box calls and pot calls. Some may look identical, but sound different. Neil Cost believed air dried wood was better for calls than kiln dried.

I know this sounds silly, but I just dont think copying it is a path I wanna do. Im sure it would sound the same or close but have always just felt like ones that Harold did himself just had something to them, like a part of him, in the sound that just cant be replicated.

Im sure most on here dont know him or never talked to him, but man he was one of the nicest fellas I have ever spoke to. Id call to ask about some strikers and end up talking about hunting and life with him for 45mins lol. He was never in a hurry and just loved to talk turkey hunting.
