I'm headed to Southeast Missouri later this week for several days of turkey hunting, primarily in Wayne and Bollinger counties. Does anyone have a report on the gobbling and the foliage in this area? Thanks.

10-4. The Bootheel is not known for many turkeys is the reason I ask. Flat, timberless, featureless, and endless cotton, rice, and wheat. If you've had good places though, hopefully you're all set.

Good luck to you.

Maybe along I-55 but that's not the case in the Poplar Bluff/Greenville areas that I have hunted.

Had 2 buddies kill this morning in Cape area and several had birds gobbling the past few days. I think you will be hitting it about right.

Good Luck!

Leaf out is just starting, it will be pretty green by the end of the week. The gobblers are hitting it hard and heavy. Opening morning was pretty poor for weather, but should be a lot of birds killed this coming week.

Nate17 is right on the money with his observation. They are about a week behind us here in western Kentucky. I was lucky and got one in Butler county, almost on the Wayne county line. I'm sure Bollenger is simular.
Like you I hadn't hunted MO in several years, was happy to get back just to see the country. Looks like their population maybe on the rebound!
Bad thing is now I have to wait untill next week to go back.
Good luck!
