Anyone here use one? Likes / Dislikes. Do you believe they are worth $500.

I like mine alot. The 20 inch barrel is where you find the most complaints. I like it because its easier to swing around, move in the woods, etc. However, it more than likely will not pattern quite as good as a 24 inc barrel. I dont shoot over 30 yards anyway so I dont care but the barrel length is the main complaint. Kicks like a mule to, just like any Mossberg.

Steven,

Have you patterned out past 30 yards? Do you know if the choke would play a larger role than barrel length?

I have shot at 40 and 50. I would shoot a turkey at 40 in perfect conditions with my setup(head and neck strecthed up in the wide open). Ive tried 5 different turkey chokes in it. An extra 4 inches of barrel would really help increase pellet count in the target or turkey. I certainly think barrel length plays a large role.

Id like to try to put the tactical stock on my old 835 ( It has the 24" barrel) and it patterns great, but it too kicks like a dang mule.

I have the tactical turkey and have no complaints. The 20" barrel is the reason i bought it because it is so much easier to move through the woods with it. The barrel length has no effect in the pattern of a shotgun. The pattern is result of choke restriction verses a certain load. No 2 barrels are the same and will therefore have different results to different combinations. The shorter barrel will effect the velocity of your load but with modern powders now there would be very little noticeable difference in a 20" - 30" barrel comparison. A longer barrel will give you a longer sight plane which will cause you to aim more precisely and have a better follow through with your shot. So in turkey hunting you are shooting a nonflying target so follow through is not an issue. So long story short is get the barrel length you like and are comfortable with and with a little comparison of loads you will get the pattern you want.

I bought one before last season after using a browning gold with a 28" barrel the previous year! Enjoyed the mossberg much more, alot easier to manuever thruogh the turkey woods on those run and gun days! BTW also took 4 longbeards with it ranging form 25-44 yds! Good Luck!

I want one too but have yet to decide.
I seen one the other day for $560 and that was before taxes.
Anyone know if the barrels can be swapped out like a normal 835? I would assume yes but you never know.
