A buddy and I are looking at going out there this year for a few days before or after we stop by in Oklahoma on some private land and hunt. Have any of you been out there on a turkey hunt before and if so who did you hunt with? We will be in Western OK around I-40 on our OK hunt so anything in that area in TX would be great.

I've never turkey hunted in TX but me and a friend have a hunt planed this spring in south TX. They are supposed to loads of 2 yr old birds this spring.

I hunted just outside San Angelo
last spring
and killed one LB
Alot of sitting in a blind and hunting over feeders
Are you looking to complete your slam?

Yes I need 2 rios to complete 2 slams and I plan to kill 2 this year if I don't kill any other subspecies.

I have heard the hunting around SA is good. I have been talking to the guy at Salt Fork Hunts and he says the hunting will be good when I want to come out there, he is in Wellington. We have been planning on going to OK on some private land to hutn too, but would like to hunt TX too while we are out there that close. I cannot, have not, and will not set in a blind over a feeder to kill a turkey though, it's just not for me.

I have heard the same thing about this year, I guess if they did not die they ought to be about 3/4 cooked by now. :)
