Just wanted to throw a log on the fire and get it going in here... What's y'all's thoughts on Archery Talk? Useful? Sorry playground of wannabes? Good classifieds?

im not on there any more I like there classifieds some very good deals on there. but not a fan of the site and most of the people. can be useful for sure. very opinionated people which so are most people on here. but idk just not for me when I got on there.

Its OK I don't get on there unless I just need something and trying to save money they are some good deals but a lot of crying a lot of un useful stuff on there

Overall I think it's a really good, helpful site. There are usually people willing to help you with any archery related problem you might have. You can find pretty much anything you want in the classifieds section also. However, there are some that get on there only to push their products and run others down. I've learned to ignore them.

I've grown to almost hate it. I go there for the classifieds and that is about it. There are a few good shooters on there for sure...but the vast majority are backyard warriors that wont even show up at a local tournament, but think they are world champions. Then you have the Levi crowd, that have way to big of a man crush on the guy. They know every time he sneezes or something, and will post a thread about it. Then worse of all...there's the "what I currently shoot is the best and everything else sucks" crowd. It goes on and on. The classifieds are pretty good though; if you are patient. You can find just about everything you are looking for at some good prices.

Like it, love it, or hate AT? AT without a doubt has pitfalls, but there is no denying that AT is a [color:#FF0000]HUGE resource! Information is POWER and it's FREE!

AT, has pretty much grown into a one of a kind source for all things archery! It sure can be an exercise in restraint navigating the waters of AT with all the philosophers, know it all experts, wannabe fanboys, and keyboard badazz personalities that are in infinite supply!

But, if we stay focused and use the common sense filters between our ears there is much to be learned from AT and perhaps have a chance to contribute also. There are some gen-u-wine bow mechanics, bow wizards, and generally great folks to be found on AT!

The classifieds alone justify the existence of AT for me! If you have some obscure piece of archery gear you'd like to sell, there is a very good chance that it will sell in the AT classified! There are several segments of AT that I enjoy and I ignore the folks that have nothing better to do than to run off at the keyboard!

UTG,
Are you trying to be coy? With you averaging 7.22 posts a day on AT and a total post count at 3,728 posts it would seem that you are quite fond of the AT forum! UTG, your mom should have named you Whirlpool, because you so love to "ad another log on the fire" agitate! UTG funny!

I go to AT for the DIY and Classified forums and that's it. CT nailed it from my perspective.....too many backyard warriors that think they are World Champions. However, DC pointed out something that is also truethe place is loaded with information!! My problem with that is because AT is soooooo big, with so many varying personalities and people, it has too much information and varying opinions, with a significant that information being incorrect or incomplete. Then those type of people swear it to be the gospel and that pushes people that actually have good information to share away and you never hear the good stuff. Not saying good advice isn't out there, but you have to be real careful which "advice" you follow, and which you don'tI just don't like wading through the crap and drama when I want to know something....there are other ways to get information.

I'm kinda like DixieCrafter. I post on AT some. I look at the DIY and some of the other forums for fun, some information and to laugh a little (same as TNDEER). I like TNDEER better. I have gotten to know more of the posters here. But I Know more of the AT posters personally.

As far ad the backyard experts et al. I would have to say that is a common trait for all people whether they hang out at AT, TNDEER or the local coffee shop. (I wish I had a dollar for every archer that has brought me back a bow that was shooting perfectly when the guy left my shop then returned two or three weeks later mad because I screwed his bow up, and he couldn't tell until he adjusted it himself or his buddy did for the last two weeks, I adjust it back to the way it was the first time he left the shop, shooting perfectly and have him return two or three weeks later cursing and spitting because I don't know what I'm doing! His buddy tried to fix it and now his arrows are all shooting wonky and I am the reason why. :D )(guys like that make want to tune bows with superglue and a welding torch... but I didn't)

I have had an account there since 2001 I think. The site is like any other site that has a large amount of members (this site included).... a lot of bickering, too many discussions who has the best, fastest, lastest, newest, most improved, blah blah blah

I stop posting in many of the forums on this site due to the conflict of opinions here, AT is even worse :)

AT is a great site to buy and sell items in the classifieds.
AT is a great site to read info on many other states other than TN.

Now the forum comes back to life lol

I use it like many other forums, resource and entertainment. The bigger the forum the more likely you will run across the people that like to stir crap but for the most part if you use common sense it like here is a good place for info and ideas.

I have used the classifieds for finding deals on there for years. Like many have already said, many deals to be had. I have found the forums rather informative. Some posters on there are just more negative than I care for. I like the site but it doesn't compare to the TNDeer family.
