Just when I was getting hooked on turkeys, I stopped hearing them. Are they silent where y'all are? I've been hunting near Manchester and Tullahoma. I was out at Yanahli and Laurel Hill over the weekend, and I didn't hear a thing in those places either. I've read about peaks and such, but I've also read that a lot of folks don't believe in the peaks. Am I just in the wrong places or have they shut up?

Oh yeah they are, had a couple fired up off the roost while looking for morels on Sunday morning in Maury county. Then had one gobble nearby a few times and heard him drumming while picking mushrooms.

Had one gobbling from 11 til about 1230 today , he would come about halfway to me , then turn around and go the other way , the whole time gobbling his dang fool head off. Never would come over to our property though , sometimes i hate turkeys.

Since they've never roostes near my bed, I'll just keep going. This is my first season, and I'm a little concerned that getting up this early this often in the spring is going to encourage my wife to make quite a chore list for me!

These hens are starting to set. It should be good hunting the next two weeks.

Thank You. That is exactly what I was thinking. I had still not got a good grasp of what was going on the last month. Last year we had warmer weather earlier and we still had birds coming to us the last week.
