Is it best to shoot the shortest arrow you can?
Is this a general rule?

My broad head is about 2" past the bow.
I could cut it down allowing the broadhead to be just in front of touching anything.

Or is shorter taking away from the necessary weight that is needed for good arrow penetration?

If it is a trade-off, is faster better then more weight?

I like moving my WB back and using really short arrows. I can turn my bow down in weight and still shoot the same speed as I did when it was longer.

You gain speed, but must be giving up some inertia.
I'm wondering which is the most important for hunting.

Anytime you change the length of the arrow shaft , you change the spine . I like my arrows to extend 1-1.5" past the arrow rest .
If you shorten the shafts , you will stiffen the spine . This could affect your arrow flight . I would cut a couple and see how well they tune out of your bow . They might fly better or worse .
