When shooting a 30 yrd pin at 40 yds my arrow drops 12 inches! Does this sound normal to you guys, it doesnt to me!

sounds like your arrow is heavy. mine only drops about 3 or 4 inches could really use the same pin. funny from 5 yards to about 25 yards no drop at all the matthews is smoking.

I am shooting 340 grain Easton FMJ cut to 29" which gives me 322gr and 100gr broadheads and blazer vanes so prob about 450 gr total which I though was pretty light to be dropping that much!

My Bowtech only drops about 4 inches at 40 yds with my 25 yd pin.

Your bow may be shooting a little slow or your arrow is heavy.

The drop is the same with both, I have not actually measured it I have just guessed it being a foot, I am gonna go measure and post results shortly!

Ok I stretched it a little it actually drops 10" at 40yds using my 30 yd pin, but still seems like alot! I thought my bow was pretty fast but I guess not! Is there any way my string could be stretched or anthing else I could check?

This is a tough one without facts. What kind of bow? Pounds of Pull? My Ar velocity shoots with minimal drop out to 40yrd when it is turned up. With it at about 60lbs I have about a 10 in drop.

Not sure what your setup is, draw weights etc... but if you want to check your string stretch, just measure your axle to axle and compare to factory specs...

good tip

Yep. 450 grains is a heavy arrow. There will be some that try and complicate this, but just always keep in mind that as the arrow is going, its slowing down (losing energy) and the further away it gets, the slower it goes and the faster it drops.

Using the sight tape formula that HHA provides, you can get a really clear picture of this. They give you stickers with like 43 different numbers on it. Each number gives you a sticker with yardage marked from 20-60 yds. If you lay them all out and look at them, there's not much measured difference between a setup that is shooting 250 fps and one that's 300 from 20-30 yds. Yeah there's a little bit but not as much as you'd think...ESPECIALLY at the shorter 20-30 yard distance. Now when you start stepping beyond 30-60 yds, that's where the difference is. The slower bows really start dropping after that. But for most bowhunting yardages that we will be shooting, you're measuring in millimeters instead of inches.

Actually sounds pretty good Jaybe per the archery software. My hunting setup drops ~9" from 30 to 40yds and I know it's in tune and shooting well. I wouldn't worry if I were you.
