This is by far the most time consuming and tedious process for me. Who uses one of these contraptions and how consistent and accurate is it? I see prices vary wildly and reviews vary about the same. Obviously for the utmost precision reloading it would benefit to hand charge the loads but would love to speed up the process for target practice and hunting rounds. What say you?

Not sure what you are referring to about being auto dispensing. But an old fashioned powder measure is pretty fast. I recently switched to Reddings and use a 10X for handgun loads and a bigger one for rifles. The 10X will always dispense within 1/10th of a grain of where it is set. And you can record the setting and dial it back in.
Previously I owned a RCBS uniflow measure and the Redding is far superior as far as repeatability and the weight it throws.

Yep, RCBS Chargemaster. You will never go back. I usually check it on a beam scale every now and then when I haven't used it in a while and it is always 100% on. Look for it on sales at Cabela's or Midway.

The auto dispensers are the ones that drop a charge and then trickle in grains until the desired load weight is achieved. They use digital scales.

You can also get the charge throwers, which are much more economical and can throw a charge pretty close to what you want.

I have tried an electronic scale and I swear ant farts upset them. Others praise their use.

I have a charge dispenser. It works okay. The time it takes to get it set up and working kind of surprised me but then again, a lot of it is my reluctance to use the resource at all.

Here is a link to every one ever made seems like.

In case you couldn't tell I use a RCBS 10-10 beam scale since the mid-80's. I have a plastic spoon I use to scoop powder from a Lee Turret/die case. Within 10 or 15 rounds my spoon is picking up very nearly a perfect charge and trickling is kept to a minimum. To each his own.

Yep ...... Ant farts, HVAC, lights, you name it. I owned 2 and will never have another one.

Like above, I use a RCBS 505 and it is plenty fast for my needs.

Honestly, unless you're burning more than 100 rounds a week I can't see the "speed" factor coming into play.

I`m getting to be an old fart, be 60 next birthday. My time is valuable and it is certainly easier than watching a beam scale. Done that for years. 6BR.com did a review on most makes and the RCBS was head and shoulders above the rest. Thats what I bought and get it out even for a few rounds. I now go to the range with sized and primed cases with 2 or 3 powders and 2 or 3 bullet styles, and test at the range. I talked to our new club president about a storage room on the 100 yd line had just been completely redone with nice lighting AC and heat. I told him how nice would that be to be able to load in the heat in winter and in the cool in summer, I`ll be danged if he didn`t go to the board and got it approved. I take my chargemaster and arbor press to seat. I can spend hours out there now.

X10 for the rcbs charge master. With any electronic scale do not use around other electronics. Mine has it's own bench and outlet. I check it with a 10-10 and it's never been off

You guys with the charge masters have fluoro lighting? Like some others, I've bought 2 different digital scales and they absolutely stink. But maybe the scale in the charge master is just better. I might buy one from somewhere that has a good return policy and give it a shot.

I still set my dump about .2 light and trickle my charges to dead on,on my old 505 scales,,

when loading bulk 223 or 308 I will dump straight in the case and check ever so often,,but on loads I hunt or shoot targets with I run ever charge over my old 505,,

I haven't seen a chargemaster in operation. But how can they be faster than a powder measure?

Most of us want out loads to the exact same charge each time. That requires being under your charge with a normal thrower and trickling up to our charge. Being a tenth under or over isn't an option for me.

The Chargemaster dispenses to the exact charge each time without extra work. It also can do it pretty fast once it gets used to the charge weight. Fast enough that I use two powder holders and I don't usually wait on it.

Why do you need loads to be absolutely perfect every time? Not trying to stir the pot but I fail to see the advantage of weighing every charge. Most bench rest shooters don't even do it.
What am I missing here?
