My electronic scale finally gave up on me. I have used it for years to set the powder throw on my RCBS uniflow dispenser.
Was thinking now might be the time to finally break down and get one of the automated dispensers, but have been watching yt videos on them.
They are SLOW!
One guy was demonstrating a 5.5gr charge for pistol cartridges and it too 1 min 34 sec to get the machine to trickle out the right amount. Other rifle calibers took 15-20 sec.
I've loaded thousands of pistol and rifle cartridges with the uniflow, verifying charges every 10rds with the electronic scale. (Even faster on the RCBS Progressive). Including 5.56 for NRA Service Rifle matches. I realize the electronic dispenser is more accurate, but at the cost of massive amounts of time. It would take an hour to just dispense powder for all 50rds of .45.
Am I missing something here?

With my chargemaster lite, the powder starts dispensing automatically after the pan is placed back on the scale. By the time I get done pressing a bullet, the next charge is ready to go.

This. On my chargemaster the stem rotates at 3 speeds (fast, slow, trickle) as the charge gets close to full it changes. You can go into the settings and tweak it for faster charging if needed. Also, it "learns" as it goes so every time it charges a load it gets faster. I would say after the first 7-8 loads it will crank them out faster than you can replace the pan (automatically starting the charging process), take the charged case and seat a bullet, place the cartridge where it goes, and reach for the pan again.

I will add, it's really cheap and made things a lot easier, to get the RCBS funnel/pan. The pan IS the funnel making that process just a bit faster and easier

I recently got a chargemaster. It's definitely faster than hand trickling. I won't say it's better as I haven't had the time to compare what I've hand trickled vs what the chargemaster threw. I sped mine up and it helped my times out considerably. One thing I did notice is sometimes it don't wanna trickle that last little bit that it needs. I'm in the learning process with it but I like it

Hmm.
I still weigh and trickle every round, 223 and 9mm excluded. This is a ton of time but I like the results.

What I find is I can spoon up a charge of IMR4350 and be VERY close to my desired charge weight after just a few rounds.

Do the auto dispensers display any functional difference between flake powders (say H335) and stick powders (IMR4350)???
