Ugh!!
Never hunted the Fall season before. Frustrating, hard work.
Walked for HOURS this morning to try and find the flock, only to find them 200yds from my truck when walking back!
Flock took off into a creek bed, then started to quickly cross the trail. I had one tom with a thick, thick beard in my sights when he scurried off into the trees. With the sun/shade and thick green leaves, he was hard to keep track of. He finally presented himself between 2 trees and I took the shot. Birds exploded from every direction that had been laying low. Dust clears and no bird. He calmly walked off calling to the others and away they went up the hill.
BTW, the squirrels toyed with me also.
First time I've been skunked in a long time.
