A hundred years ago when I first started shooting bows I started of with a recurve. I am wanting to get back into shooting/hunting with a recurve but I have gotten out of the loop on recurves as far as what is what. I would like to get your suggestions on what would be a good reliable one to get. My draw length is 29" and would like to keep it around 50 pound draw weight. Thanks in advance for any and all help you can provide.
 
I just bought my first recurve . Samick journey , I was on I cheap budget and the reviews I read said it was a great bow for the money .so far I like it.
 
here is my 2 cents.
if you wanting to buy a new bow, Checkmate, Samick and a few others have reasonable priced lower end bows.
there are also good selections on traditional sites classified sections.
a person's compound draw length and trad draw length can be two different lengths. if your trad draw is 29", look for a 45#@28" bow. rule of thumb, draw weigh increases 2-3#s every inch over.
judging you are 6' or taller, look for a 60-64", or longer, bow. less finger pinch, easier to shoot. I'm 5'11", I like 60" myself but enjoy shorter at times.

how close are you to Jackson?

20 minutes from jackson , live in mercer.
 
I go down Shady Grove to get to my lease. We're close enough to get together when this weather breaks to shoot.

I'm in Henderson and I would love to get together with other trad guys to shoot a little if y'all don't mind.
 
All us gettin together to shoot is fine by me, just let me know when and I will be ready!

I live 3 miles east off hwy. 100, but work at the high school.
