I've been waiting 20 years to get back in the woods, this is the first year back and I'd lined up three youth hunts for October with my son and nephew. We obtained some property and we've been working to get it ready when we can. We got most of one field sprayed, about a half acre or so. We can't get it all without a bush hog and can't get much equipment across the creek until next year, but we got all our seed ready, sxs loaded, bought a chest broadcaster and a drag. The last thing I need was a bag of superphosphate. So I get up Saturday morning to head to co-op before heading out to the property and on the way out the door I broke my foot. Minimum 4 weeks in a boot and surgery is 50/50 based on the location of the fracture. Everything just got a whole lot harder but we aren't going to stop. See y'all in the woods, limping or not.

Should make dragging a deer fun... 😂
Sorry about your foot...that sucks.
I'm hoping to get out there some this year, but who knows. Starting chemo in a couple weeks.... through mid December. Hopefully I'll feel like it.
Damn buddy. That's gonna be a heavy lift. Sorry you have to go through that.

Walking out the door and it just broke? That's some bad mojo. Hope you can still get out there with the kids.
Thanks. I'll have those boys in the woods if I have to army crawl to get there. I was surprised that of all the things I've done in my life that could have hurt me, walking on flat ground is the thing that got me.

If you can get the side by side over there, I believe it is still legal to hunt out of it as long as the motor is off.

Sorry about the foot, I broke my ankle during muzzleloader seasons back in 2012 and had to have surgery, I was by myself hunting. Funny story behind that one and I will tell it later. So I know what you are going through. Best of luck to you and your family this year.

You can still do it! I broke my ankle walking down a set of steps one fall, hunted almost everyday of muzzleloader and rifle on a set of crutches i put camo tape on with a homemade blanket sock around the cast and toes with a hot hand in it!! A camo crutch makes for a good standing, rifle rest😁

I'm thinking about getting a deer cart and just having the boys pull me around through the woods!
